Solar Engineering Specialist
The Utility business unit at Svea Solar is responsible for utility-scale (i.e., very large!) projects. Our solar park portfolio includes Fjällskär (20.7 MW), Hörby (18.1 MW), Agerum (8.8 MW) and more. Altogether, we’re currently operating 64 MW with 65+ projects in the pipeline!
With the increasing volume of operations, we’re now looking for a Solar Engineering Specialist.
The team
You'll be a part of the Svea Solar Utility Engineering team led by Nezanet Habtom. As a Solar Engineering Specialist, you will be at the heart of designing and optimizing large-scale solar parks to maximize energy output.
Our team consists of four engineers specializing in solar and structural engineering. Being a part of a small team means that you have a significant impact on our ways of working and final results. In return, we expect you to take full ownership of your tasks, pay attention to details, and drive your projects through strong communication and collaboration.
The role
If you are looking for the good old bullet point list of "what will I actually do", here it is:
Design and Optimization
- Design and optimize PV layouts, with emphasis on topography, shading analysis, and energy yield.
- Use specialized tools (e.g., PVcase, AutoCAD, PVsyst) to produce accurate designs and simulations.
- Perform wind and snow load calculations, component selection, and system sizing.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and project requirements.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and Procurement to ensure smooth project execution.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in workflows and processes, explore new technologies or methods, that further maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
- Depending on your experience, guide less experienced engineers or collaborate with seniors to advance your own skills.
Are we a match?
Must-haves
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Systems, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- Experience working in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
Personal Qualities
- Analytical – strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Assertive – confident in presenting ideas within the team and actively contributing to discussions.
- Proactive and initiative-driven – not hesitant to reach out to others to drive progress.
- Detail-oriented and structured.
Meriting (Not Required, but Preferred)
- Previous experience with solar energy, grid regulations, knowledge of programming (Python/VBA) and experience using PVsyst for optimizing energy production.
