Evelina Steen - Utility Business Developer
Tell us about yourself and your role at Svea Solar.
I have a background in energy and environmental engineering. After some years of studying and working abroad I chose to come back to Sweden to join the Utility team at Svea Solar as a business developer. In my role I am responsible for developing new large scale solar PV projects and bringing them to ready-to-build stage. That mainly involves acquiring land contracts, permits, and grid connection agreements.
How is it like to work at Svea Solar?
Fun! We have a great and committed team who are all very engaged in the work and with each other. There's a good energy and sense of purpose to the whole office.
How does your team look like?
The Utility Department is the smallest within Svea Solar, making us a tight knit and familiar bunch. Open-minded, curious, and solution-oriented is a good description of the team. We like to move fast and have fun while doing it!
What's the biggest challange for your team?
Prioritizing and adapting to a very fast-paced market. There are a lot of opportunities and challenges to juggle, which can be both exciting and frustrating. But in the end it's a lot of fun to work in such a dynamic and growing industry.
What problems do you get the chance to solve in your daily work?
Anything that is required to realize a project. It's a lot about convincing all types of stakeholders that our projects are fantastic and alleviating any concerns they may have.
Why did you choose to join Svea Solar?
I wanted to work in a forward-leaning and sustainable industry, with great colleagues and good company culture. Check, check, check!
What does a typical day at Svea look like for you?
I'm typically either calling potential land owners for project collaboration, preparing permitting reports and talking to case managers, or in meetings with grid owners.
Tell us something we don't know about you.
Well, I have a quite wide range of hobbies, from some grandma-style crochet to more adventurous bungee jumping.
What can't you live without in your daily work?
Easy - my colleagues!
What are you looking forward to the most in 2023?
Firstly, growing the team and meeting future colleagues. Second, to see my first projects being built.
