Magnus Bergqvist
Tell us about yourself and your role at Svea Solar?
I’m leading the sales and procurement team in the Svea Utility team. We’re working with the largest projects of typically 2-100 MW. Our projects are mainly ground mounted, but we build large roof installations as well. I studied engineering and have been working in the renewable industry during many years, notably at Orsted and Vattenfall. Outside of work my main passions are snowboarding and kitesurfing with some great memories from seasons spent in Austria, Canada and Sri Lanka.
You've been at Svea Solar for over four years now - how would you describe Svea Solar to others?
What always attracted me with Svea is the strong culture. I believe it’s shaped partly by our history as a fast-growing company built on entrepreneurship, but also being in an industry developing so fast. When I entered this industry in 2020 there was only one solar project constructed in Sweden with a capacity of more than 1 MegaWatt (MW). Compare that to last year when entire market was more than a 120 MW and is now growing even faster. We’re a team of passionate doers being the in the forefront of this rapidly expanding market.
You are in charge of the sales team for Svea Solar’s large-scale projects, could you tell us more about the team?
It’s a highly dynamic team working both with large scale solar and batteries across various segments. The current team is a good mix between industry specific experience and sales experience. Another thing to note is our diverse team, only in our team we have four nationalities working together!
How would you team describe your leadership style?
For me, leadership starts with building mutual trust between everyone in the team thus creating an environment where everyone can thrive in being at work and openly share and learn from each other. I believe in empowerment and give the individual team members - who are closest to the customers and to the market - a mandate to make decisions themselves. Considering the flourishing market we’re in, we are setting ambitious targets and as a team we’re always looking for the next challenge or project to support our customers.
Your looking for new colleague to join your sales team, what are you looking for?
We’re looking for a Senior Business Developer targeting our biggest projects worth 50 MSEK or more.
The ideal candidate for this position, has an engineering background, as well as experience within sales. It's not necessary that you come from solar or energy industry, but I think it's important to have a strong technical interest.
The main requirement for this position is that the Senior Business Developer will need to have substantial experience in, and passion for dealing with large, technical tenders.
Final thing, we are looking for people who is a good match with our culture and vision, in terms of doing it together and taking ownership from start to end, and wants to be part of becoming a leading European solar EPC.
