Simon Pihlblad - Learning & Development Lead
Tell us about yourself and your role at Svea Solar?
I'm Simon.
A driving, supportive colleague with a clear goal in mind... We do this together.
If you work with me, I'll be the one who thinks outside the box when needed and the one who pushes us forward in simple ways.
I am passionate about inspiring others and have recently joined the Global Learning and Development team.
You have done quite a journey here, what can you tell us about it?
It has just begun!
My first time at Svea Solar has been focused on installation where I worked as an installer and eventually as a hub manager where a lot of work was about being a good leader and supporting the installation teams.
As the market has grown explosively, we had a great need to find more installers but also better and smarter ways to work to maintain high quality by demand. Then I had the opportunity to help start our training center which led to work with OPEX instead.
Today I work as an interim warehouse manager in a project where we are moving our central warehouse to larger premises. And after the project is finished, I will focus on coaching leadership and building good training programs for Svea Solar across Europe! Super fun!
I'm passionate about fighting for our planet and actually making a difference. And I like to see opportunities in challenges. If you see it that way, you grow all the time.
How does a normal day at work look like?
Always start the day with drinking water!... and a lot of coffee unfortunately 😂. When I get to work it's always important for me to have my goals for the day clear.
If I'm working with a team at the moment, I always make our goals visual at a kickoff meeting, so we know what our pace and priorities are.
This way everyone can own their day and use internal motivation to win the day. Then I always try to make important decisions and set the pace for the first few hours of the day for my tasks. A friend told me many years ago; The first golden hour determines what the full day will look like. And this works for me. And important decisions should be made with an alert and rested brain! Try it!
What do you enjoy the most with your work?
The people! When we work with people, anything can happen.
What did you do before starting at Svea Solar?
I have been a small business owner for many years and worked a lot as a carpenter.
Why did you choose to join Svea Solar?
A bit because of the very thing I mentioned here. I wanted to start working more on something that makes a difference to our planet. And starting as an installer and getting the opportunity to put up one panel at a time felt just right. When I also noticed that this was a place that has come a long way towards equality and less sexism, I was thrilled.
Could you tell us something about you that we wouldn't expect?
Ha ha! Hmm...
I'm a hobby farmer. I have built a mini farm where I spend time with family and friends.
And next year I'm going to start my first bee farm.
Any plans for the winter?
Christmas is coming up fast, but otherwise I haven't planned anything... yet!
