Alison Wren - Product Manager
Tell us about yourself and your role at Svea Solar?
I have been working in the Renewable Energy industry for more than 10 years, concentrating on solar power the whole time. I am in the Hardware team which is part of the Global Product Team. My role as Product Manager for Solar & Batteries means I am responsible for creating and maintaining a global product portfolio for solar panels, inverters and batteries. Working closely with Marketing and Sales, the Hardware team identify customer needs across our markets, package hardware solutions, and ensure that new product launches go smoothly.
How is it like to work at Svea Solar
I work from our main office in Stockholm, but collaborate with colleagues in all countries. It is great working cross-functionally, with a mix of in-person and online working.
Things are always moving fast at Svea Solar, and the work I do each day can look very different, which keeps things interesting.
What's the best thing about your role as a Product Manager?
In the Product Team we are working with every department and every country, so I get to work with a wide range of great colleagues in my day to day work. There’s lots of scope for collaboration and I learn a lot from everyone I work with.
What problems do you get the chance to solve in your daily work?
I work closely with the Supply Chain team to find innovative solutions to meet our Powershifters’ needs. That can involve researching new products, introducing new functionalities for existing products, or combining products to form integrated packages.
Recently we launched new panels, which involved working with every part of the company – from Supply Chain to the Service Team. Once we completed the work behind the scenes, I got to make a company-wide live presentation of the panels – sending a meeting invite to over a thousand Powershifters was a first for me.
Why did you choose to join Svea Solar?
I had been working in the UK, but living in Sweden for several years. A combination of having a baby, and a global pandemic meant that it was time to find a job in Sweden. As the market-leader for solar in Sweden Svea Solar was an obvious first choice for me. I was excited about the opportunity to work in an international company, developing products which meet customer needs in different countries.
What do you do when you're not working?
I love travelling, and have already reached my goal of visiting every country in Europe. I have manged to combine this with my passion for Eurovision and I have attended national selections and Eurovision shows in 17 different countries.
When I am at home I relax by trying to grow as much fruit and vegetables as possible in my tiny garden.
What's your best fun fact about our solar panels?
The cell technology used in our Pro panels has been used by NASA to power high-altitude aircraft and arctic ice exploration robots. So a little bit of snow on the roof is no trouble at all for these panels!
