Nominated as one of the top 40 young construction talents of 2024 by Byggindustrin

Congratulations on being featured on the 2024 list of young construction talents! How does it feel to have been selected? I feel honored to be recognized in an industry with so many talented colleagues.
What do you think contributed the most to your nomination and placement on this prestigious list? I have never been afraid to venture into unknown territory, and through that, I have learned a lot from both my mistakes and successes about what works and what doesn’t. My parents often say I have a lot of entrepreneurial spirit. Also, my curiosity rarely sees any major difficulties in solving the tasks that come my way or that I take on.

Can you tell us a bit about your background and what led you to the construction industry? It probably started when I was a child on my grandmother's farm, where my little sister and I loved to be. There was always something to do, something new to build. Or from when my parents bought a house from the 1920s and I was there with my dad renovating. I never owned a toy toolbox; I wanted real tools and toolboxes from a young age. I have always liked building and constructing things and consider myself inventive and good at figuring things out, which led me into the construction industry.
What made you choose to work at Svea Solar? I chose to start working at Svea Solar for several reasons. Firstly, I felt that the solar energy industry is a future-oriented field that will continue to develop rapidly in the coming years, and that Svea Solar contributes to a better future by increasing the amount of green energy in our power grid. Svea Solar has a strong reputation in the solar industry for offering a quality product in a way that satisfies customers. These were things I naturally wanted to contribute to. For me, it was also exciting to join a relatively new company, founded in 2014, because new companies are often in constant change and it’s easier to contribute to changes and improvements within the company.
What is your current role at Svea Solar, and what are your main responsibilities?I work at Svea Solar Utility Services as a site manager when we build our larger solar parks. I am mostly on-site, leading, coordinating, and planning the daily work with our subcontractors, ensuring a safe working environment and the quality of the solar park so that we can hand over a faultless solar park of good quality on time and within budget to a satisfied customer. Together with the project manager at our office in Stockholm, we are responsible for the projects from start to finish.
Are there any specific projects or achievements you and your team are particularly proud of from your time at Svea Solar? I have been at Svea Solar Utility Services for almost a year now, and I am currently working on my third project. During this time, Utility has continued to expand, and many new colleagues have joined. I feel that everyone at Utility can be proud of our shared goals, working hard for transparency, improving together, sharing experiences, and creating a positive work environment where everyone feels welcome and appreciated.
How do you see the future of the construction vs solar industry? Even though there is currently a downturn in the housing sector of the construction industry and a decline in personal spending due to a recession, we do not see a downturn in the construction of large solar parks. Svea Solar Utility Services is still expanding, and I am optimistic about the future in both industries. The solar energy industry is a forward-looking field, and it will become increasingly important to build energy-efficient buildings with low operating costs, where solar panels can play a significant role. We can also see on the EU level that there will be more requirements in the coming years for solar panels to be integrated into new public buildings, followed by commercial and eventually private buildings. I believe in a future where the construction and solar industries will work hand in hand to create smart solutions for the buildings of the future.
Do you have any advice or tips for other young people who want to pursue a career in the construction/solar industry? Follow your dreams, don’t be afraid to try, and dare to take your place.
