Julia Torstensson - Operation Team Lead

Hey Julia! Tell us a bit more about yourself and your role at Svea Solar?
My name is Julia Torstensson and I'm 21 years old. I've been working at Svea Solar since the fall of 2021 and have been a supervisor for a few months now. In my free time, I enjoy exercising, riding motorcycles, and spending time with family and friends.
How have you grown or developed professionally since starting at Svea Solar?
I began as an installer and worked in a team with another girl named Matilda. We worked together for a year and a half, and then she was offered a different role as an installation coordinator here at Svea Solar. That's when I was asked to become a supervisor, and I felt it could be a good fit for me. I've been in this role for a few months now, and I'm really enjoying it.

What do you appreciate most about the company's mission and values?
I believe Svea Solar is an excellent employer that offers great opportunities for personal growth and advancement within the company. They are also dedicated to increasing the number of female installers.
What advice would you give to other women interested in joining our team as power shifters?
Keep pushing forward. It may seem difficult and challenging at times, but the experience is rewarding with amazing colleagues and the typically pleasant weather.
What are the most fulfilling aspects of being a leader, and why?
For me, the best part of being a leader is having a significant amount of independent responsibility and personal growth that accompanies the role.

Can you share a particularly fun memory from your time at Svea Solar? Perhaps something enjoyable that happened during a project with your team!
I have many fond memories from my time at Svea Solar, but I would have to say the most enjoyable one is witnessing everyone's reactions when they realize that female installers will be handling their installation.
