Briefly tell us about your thesis and why you chose to write about this particular topic?
We both have a strong passion and interest for sustainability and therefore reached out to Svea Solar to write our master thesis within the sustainability area. More precisely, our topic has been about sustainability reporting within the value chain, and specifically, sustainability reporting of outsourced transportation emissions according to EU’s new directive called Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.
How do you think your thesis can contribute to Svea Solar's development?
First, we believe that our master thesis can be an “eye-opener” and shed light on the challenges that the company is actually facing, which they might not have previously realized existed. Secondly, we believe that our master thesis will provide Svea Solar with knowledge, strategies, and other resource advice, which is needed to navigate the new regulatory requirements and drive environmental responsibility. By utilizing the more concrete material and solutions provided, Svea Solar will have the foundation for informed decision-making and implementation of sustainable reporting practices, enabling you to make a positive impact on your organization and the environment.
What are your advice for other students who want to write their thesis or do field practice at Svea Solar?
- Write about something you feel passionate and interested about, it will make the process so much more fun!
- The master thesis work is an iterative process with ups and downs, so don’t be afraid if you are not always following a straight line of continuous work.
- Start the work early, with a thorough groundwork and set up your own deadlines to make sure that you stay on track.
- Have an open dialogue and regular “check-ins”, with both your company and the school, so that you can ask questions or get guidance if you need help or feel stuck at any time.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help or reach out to people! Everyone at Svea Solar has been extremely helpful and accommodating during our whole process when writing our master thesis, which we are overly thankful for!
