Lou - UX/UI Designer
Louise, aka Lou, is a true Powershifter who's been with us since the beginning of 2020. Started out as a design intern and then became our first UX/UI Designer, what a journey it has been! This interview offers a picture of the design life in our Site Team.
Tell us a bit about you and your role at Svea Solar?
My name is Lou. I’m a UX/UI Designer and has been working at Svea Solar for 2.5 years. My role at the company is to build user-friendly and beautiful experiences for our digital products, with a focus on the website. I am passionate about the psychology behind what makes great design.
How is it like to work at Svea Solar?
It has been an incredible experience to be a part of Svea Solar’s journey the past couple of years, from a start-up to where we are today. Two of our core values are “Own It” and “Do it together”. These values feel infused into all areas and mechanisms of my role, where I can spearhead projects as well as work very closely with the developers. I feel a lot of inspiration to be working at a company that is a changer maker in the energy industry.
How does your team look like?
I work in a team of software developers together with our Product Owner. We have recently expanded by introducing a Design team to Software where we collaborate on projects cross-product aiming to build a seamless experience for our users at all our touch points.
What’s the biggest challenge for your team?
Our team maintains a lot of requests from stakeholders in each market and department. The website is a vital touch point in our customer journey where prioritising and collectively deciding on upcoming features is a challenge. We strive to find a sweet spot that follows our roadmap while suiting the company at large.
What problems do you get the chance to solve in your work?
UX is all about solving problems. I work on implementing solutions that will enhance the user experience as well as manage pain points/bugs that hinders the user from reaching their goals. I am also focusing on building a Design System so that our internal teams can work with reusable assets, which will help unify our brand in the digital space.
Why did you choose to join Svea Solar?
Working with something meaningful has always been a driver for me when making choices about how I lead my life. I’ve also been fascinated with start-up environments and Svea Solar seemed like a great opportunity to learn and work in an exciting environment whilst building a more sustainable future. It’s been a great adventure so far.
