Hector Perdomo - from Sales B2C to B2B!
Hector joined Svea Solar in 2023 as a B2C Sales Consultant and has since made a strong transition into B2B.
Today, he is responsible for securing and managing Svea Solar’s largest energy deals, driving high-impact solar park projects that shape the future of renewable energy.
Hey Hector - tell us a little bit about yourself!
I’m an optimistic, hard-working father and gym enthusiast who enjoys spending time with friends and family. I live with my wife and two kids in a house in the suburbs of Stockholm. When I’m not at the office, I spend most of my time with my family, running around chasing my over-energetic boys.
When I’m not doing cardio with them, I love spending time at the gym with some good tunes in my ears. As a former personal trainer and gym owner, I believe working out should be a natural part of life, just like going to work or brushing your teeth. It makes me feel, sleep, eat and perform better in every situation.
I’ve promised myself too many times to start playing golf again. So next time you invite me, I can add that to the list.
You have a strong entrepreneurial spirit, tell us a little bit about your previous business experience.
Before joining Svea Solar, I founded and ran three different companies. I was a gym owner, an online training and nutrition coach, and the founder and CEO of an advertising platform connecting buyers and sellers of international properties.
I ran my companies for nine years before making my exit. That gave me invaluable experiences that I use every day in my current role.
How come you decided to join the Power Shift at Svea Solar?
After my entrepreneurial career, I set out to find my next challenge. I was looking for an employer that shared my values and could offer me the opportunity to grow and develop in my new intrapreneurial career.
My brother-in-law, who worked at Svea Solar at the time, advised me to apply for my first position here. Before the interview I noticed the company’s stated values, in particular “Do it together”, “Own it”, and “Create good vibes”. I remember thinking; If a company can offer me a career built on those principles, it’s going to be a perfect match.
Tell us about your development here!
Two and a half years ago, I began my journey at Svea Solar as a Sales Consultant in the Residential department. Before I even started, I asked how I could build a long-term career within the company. I was given two clear paths, either grow into leadership roles or advance into other departments handling larger and more complex business deals; I chose the latter.
One year after joining, I was promoted to Senior Sales Consultant within Advanced Sales. Another year later, after coming back from parental leave, I received my second promotion and stepped into my current role as PPA Business Development Manager in the Utility department.
PPA – what on Earth is that and what is it good for?
A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is a long-term agreement between a company like Svea Solar that produces renewable electricity from solar parks, and a company that buys that electricity to power its operations.
If you work at, or know of, a company looking to strengthen its sustainability efforts by securing renewable energy from a local source. Lock in long-term electricity prices, shielding the business from volatility. Support increased biodiversity through nature-integrated solar park design; a PPA is the way to do it! All that and much more without any investment costs.
What is most fun and most challenging in your current role?
The most fun, and most challenging, part of my role is exactly the same. Finding the right company, or offtaker as we call it, that aligns with our criteria for a suitable partner. It’s not just about identifying the right fit; it’s also about understanding their needs so our proposition delivers a holistic and commercial value for both parties.
And believe it or not, I genuinely enjoy cold calling. Especially when I have full confidence in our product and company. For me, a NO is almost as valuable as a YES, because every rejection means I’m one step closer to signing the next PPA.
How do you experience the culture at Svea Solar?
I think the culture at Svea Solar is great. To be honest, I’m often a bit skeptical about how large companies manage to live up to their stated values, but in this case we truly do.
What I appreciate most is our inclusive atmosphere. My colleagues come from all corners of the world. I love hearing Spanish, French, Russian, Italian, American English, and Italian conversations in between meetings and sales calls. It’s a daily reminder of the diversity we work in.
Svea Solar also has a very helpful culture. I’ve never asked a colleague for help without getting support immediately. That makes my workflow so much smoother and gives me the confidence to ask questions without worrying about being a disturbance.
If someone who is considering joining Svea Solar is reading your interview, what would you like to say to them?
“It will be fun they said”, and fun it is. Create good vibes is one of the Svea Solar’s core values, and the vibes are indeed good here. Fun fact, I once won the Power Shifter of the month award based on that very value.
Before I started my journey here, I thought it would be tough to perform without any prior knowledge of solar energy. But that wasn’t the case. At Svea, we “Do it together” and whenever I’ve fallen short on knowledge, there’s always someone ready to help me grow.
Of course, having prior experience is valuable. But don’t let a lack of industry background hold you back from applying. You’ll learn a lot here, I'm still learning every day, and Svea is great at recognizing and amplifying your other strengths.
If companies interested in knowing more about PPA agreements would like to speak to you, how can they reach you?
Call me at +4676-183 75 90 or send me an email to hector.perdomo@sveasolar.com.
I’m a traditional person, so I prefer phone calls. Before you decide how to reach me, ask yourself this: Have you ever received an email that was better than a conversation?
